Gonna have to replace the front fork soon on my Specialized Hardrock. If funds allow was thinking of a set of Rock Shox Sid race any opinions or alternatives? Thanx

You can't go wrong with SIDs, they are light and a favorite with XC race whippets! If you go up to the Team or World Cup versions they run the remote ‘Poploc’ lockout system which is great on the climbs or that horrible road stretch home – it’s a lever that clamps to the bars. I think SIDs come with 80mm travel but you can mess about with the insides to change this ‘All-Travel’. The Fox F100x/F80x (mm) are also a popular XC fork but big bucks. They have a cool system called ‘TerraLogic’ - a valve thingy that locks the fork out on the smooth (and climbs) and opens up over the bumps. You can set up how sensitive the fork is and how long the suspension remains active. It takes a bit of setting up but once you have it sorted it’s a pretty plush ride and no messing around with a bar control. Also worth looking at Marzocchi and Manitou forks. Everyone has a view on forks and it depends on what you have run before, how you ride and of course your budget. Check out www.mtbr.com/ for masses of info and reviews on everything MTB. Happy shopping ! C.

Cheers C, looks like it's gonna be SID's Race, looked @ the Fox's and they look really trick but just to many pennies involved. All I need to do is sell my gsx 1400 if you know anyone who might be interested.
